During the recent 'National Chip Pan Week' our chip pan fire demonstration unit conducted several chip pan fire awarness sessions in Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and Rotherham.
The following pictures where taken at Barkers Pool in Sheffield.

The Community Fire Safety Team prepare for the demonstration.

The chip pan on the cooker has now caught fire.

A cup of water is about to be put on the chip pan 'to try to put
it out'

The effect of just one cup of water has on a chip pan fire.
Imagine this in your kitchen, thats why you must never put water
on a chip pan fire. You should use a damp towel to smother the
flames instead.

The crowd look suitably impressed.
